We're happy to have started out in the Forest City of London. What a great and amazing community. Without the London community, Forest City Candles wouldn't have been able to have grown to what we are today.

Forest City Candles uses only the finest ingredients, and as much locally sourced as possible. All candles are hand crafted and hand poured in Canada.

Forest City Candles was originally started in 1998 by Abigail and William Martel in the heart of London, Ontario, Canada. They started crafting hand poured candles in their kitchen and attended various local events and craft fairs to bring a wonderful line of products to the community.

Over the years because of popularity, retailers across Ontario started selling the Forest City Candles product lines in their stores.

After ten years, in 2008, Abigail and William had outgrown making candles in their kitchen and started working with a co-packer to continue the tradition while maintaining the same quality.

In 2017, Forest City Candles teamed up and started working with ZiggDig to bring the product international, increase volume and expanded product lines. Candle products became available in stores across the United States as well as on dozens of other online platforms and marketplaces internationally.

Abigail and William retired in 2019 and Forest City Candles and all assets was taken over by Defranco Commerce LLC. All recipes, processes and traditions have been kept the same with how Abigail and William originally did things.

Soy Candles

Soy wax candles are candles made from soybean oil. They are known for being eco-friendly and sustainable, as soybeans are a renewable resource. They also have a longer burn time compared to traditional paraffin wax candles and emit less soot. Soy wax candles have a creamy, smooth texture and often have a mild, natural scent, making them popular for home fragrance.

Beeswax Candles

Beeswax candles are made from the wax produced by honeybees. They are natural and renewable, as bees produce wax to build their hives. Beeswax candles burn longer and cleaner than traditional candles, producing little to no soot. They also emit a natural honey-like scent, making them a popular choice for aromatherapy and home fragrance. Additionally, beeswax candles release negative ions when burned, which can improve air quality by neutralizing pollutants.

Gel Candles

Gel wax candles are made from a mixture of mineral oil and resin, which creates a translucent, jelly-like appearance. They are known for their unique, decorative look and can be made in a variety of shapes and colors. Gel wax candles burn slower and longer than traditional wax candles, and the oil and resin mixture helps to hold fragrance well, making them popular for home fragrance. However, because they are made from petroleum products, they are not as environmentally friendly as soy or beeswax candles.
